This is one of the yummy recipes I learned to cook with my mama when I was little. I’ve added a few steps, instead of cooking everything together, I flash boil the green beans first and I also use a variety of mushrooms not just white buttons. The oyster sauce and fish sauce ties everything together and gives it nice savory sweet flavor. You can pick up oyster and fish sauce at any Asian market.
This green bean stir fry is delicious over white rice or as a side dish to a big chunk of meat. If you want to add meat to the stir fry add it when you roast up the garlic and mushrooms. Let’s cook!
Here are the ingredients
Cut the little straggly ends off the green beans
Flash boil the green beans for a few minutes
Take the green beans out of the boiling water and put them in an ice bath. Fill up a large bowl with ice and cold water, this will stop the cooking process with the green beans. Aren’t they pretty?
Roast up the garlic in olive oil and add your mushrooms. I’m using white button and crimini mushrooms. Love the earthy flavor of crimini mushrooms.
Add your flash boiled green beans. Our masterpiece is coming together nicely.
Then you want to add the Oyster sauce. Add a tablespoon first, taste it and if you need to add more then add another tablespoon.
Then you want to add some fresh cracked pepper. If you are a pepper lover then go crazy.
Next up add some fish sauce. TIP ALERT!!!!! add fish sauce at the very end. You want to make sure that you’re not cooking the fish sauce for a long period of time on your stove or else your entire house will smell like a bottle of fish sauce. Oy!! 😂
